WHAT IS THE AVERAGE WEIGHT OF A TEACUP YORKIE?
A standard yorkie should weigh no more than 7 pounds. A teacupyorkie usually weighs between 2 and 4 lbs.
WHAT REALLY IS A TEACUP YORKIE? IS THERE SUCH A THING?
According to AKC standards, no there isn't a "teacup" standard. However, yorkies that have a long line of being bred at smaller sizes, are called "teacups", "t-cups" "tcups", "tiny". These are not "runts" of the litter. KB Yorkie Puppies Sires and Dams have a long line of being under 4 lbs. The average weight of a KB Yorkie Puppy is between 2 and 4 lbs., and in the litter ALL weights fall into this average. They are strong, healthy dogs. When researching a teacup yorkie breeder, ask about their "average" weights. Usually you can immediately tell by the price, as a runt of the litter is usually sold LESS than the average price of a teacup yorkie puppy which has been bred to be small, and you can be guaranteed they will be healthy during their lifetime.
